The Texas Chain Saw Massacre comes back alive with old and new footage and contributions from horror icons.

Fifty years after Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre shocked the world and revived the horror genre, Chain Reactions explores the film’s impact and undiminished influence. In addition to contributions from Takashi Miike, Stephen King and Karyn Kusama, old and new material breathes new life into a classic.

Alexandre Philippe has become an Imagine regular with his creative documentaries on Alien and The Exorcist, or on The Wizard of Oz’ influence on David Lynch. In his latest, he creates a dialogue between original footage from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre in the form of never-before-seen outtakes and new material, shot fifty years later. He uses the chronology of the movie: the first chapter starts around noon, after which we’re brought through the dead of night (with Stephen King in a dark basement) to a hopeful sunrise ending.
