The latest Djinn horror film from famous Indonesian production house Rapi Films.

Retno and Indah’s parents are involved in a car crash after visiting the children. Their mother dies, their father ends up in a coma. As the siblings start battling over the inheritance, the Djinn in the father’s body is looking for a new host.

Indonesian production house Rapi Films is known for its horror films, such as those by Joko Anwar (Satan’s Slaves). Horror is very popular in Indonesia, with its rich tradition of ghost stories. This latest Djinn film slowly builds up to an intense and surprising ending in which the female characters play a prominent part. In many Djinn stories, the horror is present from the start, but The Death Throes manages its suspense more subtly, with a few surprising plot twists. The female actors steal the show with their vulnerable, determined and violent characters.
