Classic adventure film featuring magical stop motion animation by Ray Harryhausen.

On his way to Baghdad to marry princess Parisa, Sinbad ends up on the island Colossa with his men. They meet the wizard Sokurah, who has a magic lamp. When the lamp ends up in the hands of an evil cyclops, Parisa’s life is in danger.

The biggest draw for this absolute classic is of course the wonderful stop motion animation created by Ray Harryhausen, who also co-wrote the screenplay. The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, a fantastic mix of Greek mythology and Arabian tales, features some of his greatest creations: the two-headed bird, the fighting skeleton, the fire-breathing dragon and of course the giant cyclops. The Daymotion technique allowed for stop motion to be convincingly integrated with live action footage. Harryhausen’s work, and this film in particular, was a big source of inspiration for Phil Tippett, Imagine’s 2024 Guest of Honour.

On October 27, Tippett will come by to introduce the film.
