Old age is nothing short of horrific in this gruesome power struggle between the inhabitants of a retirement home.
The retirement home where cynical judge Stefan ends up seems to be run with an iron fist by fellow inhabitant Dave and his sinister hand puppet Jenny Pen. Despite his deteriorating health, Stefan is the only one to resist their reign of terror.
Veteran actors John Lithgow and Geoffrey Rush face off in this portrait of a battle to the death between two bitter old men. New Zealand director James Ashcroft, known for small horror classics Black Sheep (2006) and Fresh Meat (2012), injects every scene with ominous suspense, building to a completely outrageous climax. Sinister red eyed doll Jenny Pen, a cult figure in the making, is a frightening presence with an almost supernatural dominance. One thing’s for sure: on the inevitable road to death, no one goes down gracefully.
