Ridley Scott’s unparalleled blend of science fiction and horror delivers yet another gut punch with this 4K restoration.

When the cargo spaceship Nostromo picks up a signal from an alien spaceship, the crew members go to investigate. They come across the remains of alien life, but without realising it they’re taking a hostile organism back to the Nostromo.

Forty years after its premiere, Alien still looks remarkably modern and even fresher than ever in this restored version. Although fresh is not exactly a word you’d associate with the grimy, gloomy interior of the spaceship, where the characters wear authentic looking uniforms and work clothes instead of rigid designer Star Trek outfits. It only adds to the impact once the iconic H.R. Giger-designed alien starts chomping its way through all that realism. The film was the breakthrough for actress Sigourney Weaver, who still had a lot of fighting ahead of her after the first part of this enduring franchise.
