Perfect Skin

A young woman is abducted by a tattoo artist in a beautiful and unsettling tale about obsession that goes further than skin deep.

Katia has just moved to London and has lost her job and apartment. Her friend Lucy introduces her to Bob, a mysterious tattoo artist. When Katia bumps into Bob at a bar, he picks her up and abducts her. Katia soon discovers that it’s not sex but something else he has in mind.

Polish immigrant Katia is an interesting protagonist of Kevin Chicken’s first feature, as the relationship between her and Bob isn’t that of a classic villain-victim. Their chemistry lends the film a certain level of ambiguity; there is a sense that he genuinely cares for her. Richard Brake, last seen as the LSD chemist in Mandy, is amazing as Bob, bringing intense obsession and tenderness to his performance. Tattoos are designs by famous London tattoo shop The Family Business. The soundtrack was written by The Prodigy’s Liam Howlett and adds an additional level of nervous intensity to the macabre proceedings.
